Circuit Breaker Policy
Data artifactTools & IntegrationOrchestration & Toolsarc:CircuitBreakerPolicy
A per-dependency configuration of failure-count or failure-rate thresholds, measurement window, recovery timeout, and half-open trial requests for a circuit breaker.
Responsibility. Sets the trip and recovery thresholds of a circuit breaker for one dependency.
Also known as: Circuit breaker thresholds

Design guidance
- SHOULD use more aggressive thresholds for less reliable dependencies such as external APIs and more lenient ones for more reliable LLM APIs.
Quantitative guidance
As stated by the sources; verify before use.
- Search API: 3 failures, 30 s; LLM: 5 failures, 60 s (Ch2.8).
Classification
- Patterns
- Per-dependency threshold tuning
- Quality attributes
- Security (ISO/IEC 25010 | NIST AI RMF: secure and resilient)
- Risks mitigated
- Premature circuit opening (false positives)Unprotected genuine outages
