Tool Precondition Checker
Software componentTools & IntegrationOrchestration & Toolsarc:ToolPreconditionChecker
A workflow-level validator that verifies a tool's declared prerequisites (prior tool success, authentication, consent, resource existence and ownership) are satisfied before the tool executes.
Responsibility. Blocks tool invocations whose preconditions or required execution order are not met.
Also known as: Precondition checking, Sequence correctness auditing, Workflow-level auditing

Design guidance
- MUST enforce tool dependency order for side-effecting chains (e.g., inventory reservation before payment, payment before shipping label).
- SHOULD check contextual prerequisites such as successful authentication, obtained consent, or resource ownership before execution.
Quantitative guidance
As stated by the sources; verify before use.
- Workflow-level pre/postconditions plus parameter grounding cut an e-commerce order failure rate from 4.2% to 0.8% (81% reduction) (Ch3.7 case).
