Value Thought Evaluator
Software componentCognitionCognition & Memoryarc:ValueThoughtEvaluator
A thought state evaluator that rates each state independently on a categorical (sure/maybe/impossible) or numeric (1-10) scale estimating the likelihood it leads to a solution.
Responsibility. Assigns an absolute solution-likelihood rating to each state independently.
Also known as: Value prompt, Value-based assessment
Variant of Thought State Evaluator abstract
When to choose. Choose when intermediate states can be checked for objective feasibility (e.g., mathematical reachability, constraint satisfaction) and absolute thresholds are needed for pruning.

Design guidance
- SHOULD be calibrated on development datasets with known solutions, measuring false negatives and false positives per rating, before its thresholds are trusted.
- MAY sample 3-5 value assessments per state and aggregate by averaging (numeric) or majority vote (categorical).
Quantitative guidance
As stated by the sources; verify before use.
- Pruning 60% of failing branches while retaining 95% of succeeding ones yields ~2.5x search efficiency (Ch5.2).
- Ensemble of 3-5 samples per state; cost grows linearly with sample count (Ch5.2).
